Italian Geography

Italy’s geography is incredibly varied, with a mix of mountains, hills, and coastline. The country’s highest peak is Monte Bianco (also known as Mont Blanc), which stands at 4,810 meters (15,781 feet) and is located in the Alps. The Alps also run along Italy’s northern border with Switzerland and Austria, while the Apennine Mountains run down the center of the country. Italy is also home to several active volcanoes, including Mount Etna in Sicily and Mount Vesuvius near Naples.
